How To Memorize Your Memories

how to recollect lost memories, memory
Have you been pondering over this question for quite some time? Do you have a habit of forgetting important events of your life? The first birthday, the marriage ceremony, the first child, the first job party or the first salary. There are many occasions in one’s life, however, we have practically no way of storing that memory (data) in some retrievable form. Agreed, that one can use a camera to click pictures or even to shoot videos but, frankly speaking, how many of us are able to capture the actual events or the emotions or feelings of people present in that event. Apart from the usual posing for pictures, nobody captures life on a minute’s scale. In order to really capture the sentiments of an event, one should be able to construct the entire event, frame by frame, at a future date or time.
Martin Kallstrom, a Swedish serial entrepreneur, and his team are about to give finishing touches to a solution to this very problem. They’ve constructed Memoto, a camera which has no buttons and Β which you can pin up on your shirt, tee shirt or suit. Memoto, once worn, takes 2 Geo-tagged pictures every minute and saved on the hard disk along with the date and time.
Read my article from The Verge about Memoto and the ability to store one’s memories.
On a parting note, reflect on the following question and share your thoughts in the comments:
What are your thoughts about memories and their storage? Would you like to have a tool for this purpose? What would you do, once you’re able to store your memories?

  2. recently in dubai i saw one tourist wearing camera on his head… first i wondered how funny it looks to wear camera all time on head… but it did took much time to surprise me and realize how big fool i was…. me and that tourist were sharing same moments… but something which was valuable for him, same was valueless, mere scrap for me…. just change of view let me realize value of passing moments.. that are never going to come back… moments which i will recall and think as my golden period after few years is actually present for me now… and how can we can't enjoy this golden period we are living in…. i thanked that tourist for teaching me so evident but important lesson of my life… clicking moments don't only help u recall ur golden moments… it actually make u feel living that moment, which otherwise is dropped of watch…. click as much as u can friends….

  3. Great idea. However, I wonder what use it will be to me. Memories are precious. And when we value them, we remember them. I take quite a lot of snaps. Of course, they remind one of our memories. However, many a time, I would not have the time to browse through the snaps to remember my best memories. So, your best memories would be stored in your memory. But, this camera is quite a good one. Many a time, when I'm busy doing something, I wonder how to take a snap. This would be good for that.

If you check out the specifications of this device, it has an app which syncs with the camera and makes a backup of all the pics. Then later once you transfer the data from the device to a PC, you can make a stop-motion video using all those pics and as an option, share it to social networking sites as well.
    Thanks for your feedback. πŸ™‚

    A real breakthrough in technology!
Thank you Jay for this wonderful update!
As about my feedback on memories:
I don't want to store/relive any good or bad ones. I want to live free of memories…fresh like a new born:):)

  6. Sounds very useful and interesting! Mometo is a great idea!!
But, I think as this camera doesn't have any button, it captures shots at random moments, at random places and at random times, and we don't have any control on it. So, some of the pictures might not please us. An automated thing doesn't bring the real joy I feel. But, one advantage I see in this randomness is it might capture things which we fail to notice.

  9. HAHAHA…Yes, indeed, we want to be relieved of all the burdens. However, that is something which is far from being achievable. I wish we could reverse the life cycle and go back to the infant stage, to start all over again.
Thank you very much Amitji for your feedback.

  10. Indeed Valli, some of the pictures might not please us but there is a definite order to randomness as well. As you correctly pointed, it is useful in the things we fail to register through our eyes (although it is stored sub consciously).
Thanks for expressing your thoughts Valli. πŸ™‚

  13. Indeed, TTT, usually our memories are sufficient for storing events and other information. Although, with the passage of time or due to some illness it might become difficult for a person to remember even small facts or places or past events. The device will come handy to such people.
