Stop living like a Zombie

Another head hangs lowly
child is slowly taken,
and the violence caused such silence,
who are we mistaken.
What’s in your head, in your head,
zombie. zombie, zombie.
These profound words make up the lyrics of Irish rock band, The Cranberries, when they sang their all time hit song, Zombie. Check out the Youtube video of the song.
Do we realize how much of our lives is just blurring past us in the pursuit of our desires, wants, popularity and wealth? Everyday, the same routine, from 9 to 5 we work like a zombie. Although there might not be a dearth of funds or wealth but still we end up dissatisfied. It’s almost like a vicious cycle which very few people are able to escape which brings us to the question; how can you live life in this manner? How to live more freely, enjoying the small joys and accomplishments of life?
The solution is quite simple. Generally, people don’t realize, that the solutions to life’s problems lies in simplicity and not complicating things even further. We must understand that there comes a time in our lives, when we have to stop, stand and take a good look at how far you have come and take stock of the situation. It’s just like standing at a crossroads with the traffic lights on; you stop at the red light, wait during the light turns saffron and then go when it turns green. Similarly, one should develop their own traffic signals in their lives, to monitor their progress through all those years.
stop, wait, get ready, go, traffic signal
In life, we must build our own, personal traffic signal to guide us.

  1. I agree, simplicity is something that we all need. But we tend to make things complex. And this approach of traffic lights is good. I think we have to set a standard of what's too much and what we need. At the end of the day, we want happiness…

Yes, it is quite evident in front of our eyes and yet we miss out on the most granted things.
So, have you built your own internal traffic light system?
