Learning How To Live

So sang the band, Audioslave, in their song of the same name. I was listening to some of their songs after quite some time now. However, my mind had drifted off to somewhere else. It reminded me of an angel, working on God’s train, who’s very close to our hearts. You don’t need to look far to find this angel coz she can be found in all the homes around the world, working tirelessly for the ones she loves the most. She is an indispensable part of our lives, you’ve guessed it right: our mother. She is the important ingredient which turns bricks & mortar to a place we call ‘Home‘. Yet we take her so much for granted. Just imagine a day when she falls ill or has gone to her parent’s place. The whole house is turned upside down and all work goes haywire. She is the one person in this world who knows you inside out, what food you eat, what clothes you wear etc. etc.
In our childhood, we always take her shelter whenever we need help but once we are grown up we are quick to say that now we are on our own. This is a serious misconception and possibly the biggest mistake any teenager can make. Even though she might be from the old school of thought, she does know a thing or two about this big bad world. However, the egoistic & power hungry people that we are, we tend to think that we have matured and know the difference between right & wrong. In the eyes of our mothers we are still her little child.
It is rightly said that, “Educate a man, educate an individual. Educate a woman, educate a whole family.” So people, please don’t restrict your love towards your mother to just a Mother’s day. Show your love & care for her whenever you can. After all she’s the one who has helped us weather the storms of life. The place which she holds can never be taken by another person, not even our wives. I feel that it is that ‘unmistakable‘ feeling of jealousy in women which causes the infamous ‘saas-bahu’ battles 🙂 Probably she cant bear to see her child being handled by another person, that too a woman. She might just be feeling possesive of her children 🙂
So, i am going to thank my mom for showing me how to live and a ‘special’ thanks to Audioslave for making me realize this fact !!!!!……;)
